يِمكِن

The middle of the scale - يمكن, ممكن and شكّ

The middle of the scale is where most real conversation happens, and Levantine has two words here that look almost the same but do different jobs.

"يِمكِن" is a guess about what is true, and it sits at the front of the sentence. "مُمكِن" is about what is possible or allowed, and you have already met it as a way of asking permission. "شَكّ" is the verb for doubting.
