قَدَّيش الساعة؟

Asking the time

Asking what time it is, and what time something happens

"قَدَّيش الساعة؟" is how you ask the time. Literally it is "how much is the hour" — which is why "شو الساعة؟" sounds wrong to a Levantine ear, even though "شو" is the usual word for "what".

Phrases

"وَقت" is time in general — "ما عِندي وَقت", I don't have time. For the time on the clock it's always "الساعة".
