The words that place something in time without naming an hour
Most of the time you don't name an hour at all — you say before, after, early, not yet. These are the words that do that.

Phrases
"قَبل" and "بَعد" take a plain noun like this. To put a whole clause after them — before I came, after we ate — you need "قَبل ما" and "بَعد ما", which come later in the course.
