Possesive nouns

Why "your book" is already definite, with no ال

"ال" isn't the only way a noun becomes definite. Saying whose it is does the same job: "your book" is one particular book, so Arabic already treats it as definite.

You show that with an ending stuck straight onto the end of the noun.
